How to: Find part of a value in middle of an entry using Filter By Selection.
Solution:
In the Table Datasheet view, select the desired part of a cell entry (that is NOT at the beginning), and use the 'Filter By Selection' command on the 'Filter' submenu under the 'Records' menu.
1) If the Database window is not active, activate the Database window.
2) Go to the Table Datasheet view.
3) Select the desired part of an entry NOT at the beginning of a cell, by clicking and dragging the mouse over it.
NOTE: When part of a word or other entry NOT at the beginning of a cell is selected, the filter returns those records that contain the selected part in any of its fields.
EXAMPLE: In a table containing the word 'Dairy' in one record and the word 'Grains' in another record, selecting the ' ai' part of the word in one of the fields returns both records.
After beginning of field
4) Select the 'Records' menu and select 'Filter'. (A submenu appears.)
5) Select 'Filter By Selection' from the 'Filter' submenu. (Only records containing the value in the field selected in step 3) remain in the datasheet.)
6) To view all entries in the table again, select the 'Records' menu and select 'Remove Filter/Sort'.
7) To reapply the previous existing filter, select the 'Records' menu and select 'Apply Filter/Sort'.
